A certified wage auditor conducts periodic checks at workplaces with high labor force (such as security, cleaning, catering, etc.) upon request, to ensure compliance with labor conditions and wages in accordance with Israeli labor law and to identify violations of labor rights under protective laws and collective agreements. This also includes rights established between the service recipient and the contractor providing the service through its employees.
The role includes, among other tasks, examining employment contracts, salary systems, interviewing employees, writing and submitting a report to the service requester, and providing expert testimony in court.
The role of the certified wage auditor is derived from the requirements of the law "Enhancing the Enforcement of Labor Laws, 2010."
It requires extensive knowledge, experience in payroll accounting and control, proficiency in labor laws and national insurance, familiarity with labor agreements, and investigative skills.
The 2022 training program for certified wage auditors was built in accordance with Section 7 of the regulations for enhancing the enforcement of labor laws (2017). The goal of the training is to maintain the competence and professionalism of the wage auditor, to update and supplement the necessary knowledge in relevant fields.
This training focuses on three main topics: presenting case law in labor law and new expansion orders in relevant sectors, refining working procedures with the regulator (Regulation and Enforcement Division), and providing guidelines for the correct writing and editing of wage auditor reports. Additionally, the training aims to create a platform for discussion, peer learning, and encourage the creation of a content community.
