Mechanical engineering - Vehicle

The study in the Automotive Engineering track is designed to prepare professional individuals with basic knowledge and experience in the field of vehicles, to operate and repair various systems such as the engine, steering systems, power systems, brakes, and more. During the course of the study, students receive training and tools that will enable them to join modern garages in various roles such as mechanics, examiners, technical managers, sales service, and more.

 Two years, evening classes.

The Automotive Engineering specialization allows students to obtain a Garage Manager certificate, provided they meet all the requirements set by the Ministry of Transportation. The student receives a certification for car mechanics after passing a practical exam at the Ministry of Transportation, which can only be taken after completing the studies. Additionally, the student can earn various certificates such as Vehicle Appraiser, Traffic Safety Officer, Car Examiner, or Licensing Examiner.

A) The applicant must have earned a high school diploma, or must have obtained a Bagrut certificate with 3 units in mathematics, 3 units in English, and 2 units in Hebrew, with a grade of at least 55. Students who studied in high schools abroad must undergo an equivalency process through the Ministry of Education's Certificate Equivalency Department.

B) The college may admit the student conditionally if they pass the Bagrut exams in two of the three subjects (Hebrew, English, Mathematics). In this case, the student is given the opportunity to meet all requirements during the first academic year. The student cannot advance to the second year before meeting the admission requirements. The college offers the opportunity for the student to study and take the exam for the subject they are missing.

  1. The student must pass a personal interview. (Students who meet the above conditions will be invited for an interview; after presenting the interview results to the admissions committee, the best candidates will be selected as there are limited seats available).

Exemption from the Bagrut Certificate:

  • The student can be exempt from the Bagrut certificate if they have completed high school and are over 35 years old.
  • Or if they hold a first-degree certificate from an accredited institution in the country.
Note: The above conditions are subject to change according to the college and the technological institute (M.A.T) requirements.

Transfer from Other Colleges:
Students may transfer from other colleges based on the following conditions:

  1. The student must have a Bagrut certificate or its equivalent and meet the applicable admission requirements for the year of transfer.
  2. Their studies at the previous college must have been in a regular format.
  3. A student transferring to the college during the academic year will only be accepted after presenting a clearance certificate from the previous college, along with a transcript and personal file.
  4. A student transferring to the college at the beginning of the academic year will only be accepted after reviewing the grades obtained at the previous college. Final acceptance will be confirmed after approval by M.A.T. The transfer request should be submitted to the education secretary according to the college's admission and registration system, and the request will be forwarded to the college administration for necessary procedures.

Automotive engineers can join various workplaces, such as:

  • Garage management

  • Fault detection and diagnosis

  • Management of service and guidance departments

  • Consultation for purchasing new cars

  • Office management, vehicle reception, and customer communication

  • Vehicle management for institutions and companies

  • Service department management

Additionally, automotive engineers can integrate several supplementary specializations during their studies, and work as traffic safety officers, vehicle appraisers (car assessors), and more. They can also continue their studies and obtain a bachelor's degree in automotive engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, and other specialties.
